Hakeem Butler, WR, Iowa State #18

6046, 219, 4.59

Notes: From Baltimore, Md. Has overcome adversity growing up. His father left when he was very young, and he and his two siblings lived with their mother in a one-bedroom apartment. His mother passed away in 2012 from breast cancer. He then moved to live with family in Texas. Cousins, Aaron and Andrew Harrison, both played basketball at Kentucky and are currently playing professionally. Redshirted in 2015. Saw action in 9 games and caught 9 passes for 134 yards and 2 touchdowns in 2016. Caught 41-697-7, including a long of 74 yards in 2017. Caught 51-1,126-9 in 2018.

Positives: Outstanding size, hands and catch radius. Rare length creates constant matchup problems for defenses. Uses his size effectively. Open even when covered. Often wins contested catches. Plays with physicality and passion. Extremely athletic, can make amazing, acrobatic catches. High points the ball well and shows innate body control and balance. Moves well and has good, deceptive speed for his size. Gets downfield and poses deep threat ability.

Negatives: Inconsistent and will drop some easy balls. Lacks concentration at times. Lean frame and needs to add weight room strength. Needs to refine pass routes and pattern-running technique. Hasn't run a diversity of routes. Lacks overall polish.

Summary: Needs some refinement, but is a talented receiver capable of highlight reel catches and big plays.
